End HIV 901 Community Advisory Board Application
  • Application for End HIV 901 Community Advisory Board

  • About the Advisory Board

The End HIV 901 Community Advisory Board (CAB) is led by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital's HIV Prevention and Treatment Program to provide input for Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) efforts. A consistent team of stakeholders will directly provide and advise St. Jude and its partners on related EHE activities to ultimately eliminate the HIV epidemic in the Greater Memphis area. The CAB will be representative of a diverse mix of stakeholders from various sectors in Shelby County, including (but not limited to) the health department, faith-based organizations, schools, civic and community groups, LGBTQ youth and young adults, and health care organizations. Each member will share the common goal of optimizing HIV prevention and treatment by advising and working alongside one another in the development and implementation of a solid community-driven HIV prevention and treatment infrastructure in the Greater Memphis Area. Members will collaborate to implement the community-driven End HIV 901 Plan for the Greater Memphis Areas transitional grant area (TGA). The Community Advisory Board includes community mobilization that is a continuous process of attaining buy-in and support from individuals not already involved in the planning and implementation processes.

  • Primary Role of the Advisory Board

    • Advise its partners on EHE-related priorities and activities

    • Ensure the End HIV 901 Plan remains relevant to Memphis surrounding area’s HIV prevention and treatment needs

    • Provide insight to the grant recipient, affiliated/partnering organization and funded partners

    • Evaluate grant proposals or grant applications and assist with selecting grantees

    • Advise partners on website and social media updates

    • Advise partners on technical assistance training and other educational opportunity needs relating to EHE

    • Recommend services to be funded

  • Subcommittees

Subcommittees are formed to bring focus to each of our Pillars within Ending the HIV Epidemic: Diagnose, Prevent, Treat, and Respond. All subcommittees are approved in collaboration of St. Jude.

  • Meeting Frequency

CAB meetings will initially be held monthly. The group will meet the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM. Facilitation of meetings will occur in person during the months of January, April, July, and October, with all other meetings being held virtually. Location may vary depending on availability of meeting space, either at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a location in the community. Routine educational opportunities will be made available for the CAB depending upon the needs of the members and additionally offered through End HIV 901 Community Presentations provided to the community at large. Trainings can include Request for Proposals (RFP) / Request for Applications (RFA) process review, HIV 101, data interpretation, public speaking, etc. Currently the meetings will be held for 90 minutes with potential of breakout sessions or added subcommittee meetings depending on the discretion of the CAB and their needs.

Within the CAB, subcommittees are created for detailed assessment of EHE Pillars. Subcommittees consist of each Pillar within End HIV 901: Health and Harmony in the 901 plan (Diagnose, Prevent, Treat, and Respond). The group will collectively decide on future meeting frequency, day of the week and time of day as needed. Subcommittee meetings will be in the format of workshops as subcommittees recommend suggested changes within their specified aligned Pillar. Ultimate discretion of subcommittee meetings, frequency, occurrence, and duration is decided by CAB members. Meetings format can include separate meeting day and time from monthly meeting for 60 minutes, breakout sessions during monthly meeting (30 minutes of 90 minutes) consistently every month or every other month, etc.
